"Details Overcome"

Lieutenant JG Robert Harrier
Robert turned and looked at the counsellor before blinking a few times as he considered an option. Holding a finger up to indicate that the counsellor should wait a moment while he checked something out with the nearby terminal, he moved with speed through the ships medical records. 'Naturally,' he said with a sympathetic smile in a broad British accent, 'she could but it would do nothing for the child medically beyond enforcing the mother/child bonds.'
The counsellor however looked down trodden at the doctor. He had come into a sickbay with several hopes and in a sentance, Robert Harrier had appeared to have shattered them.
'Ah, don't look so down Lieutenant,' Robert continued to smile, his blue eyes shinning, 'I said naturally. But this is the 24th Century.' He tapped into the computer at a rapid pace before the screen brought up details of both hemoglobins and cupraglobin. 'Essentially, they do the same thing, more or less. The trouble is that being born from two different races, they aren't quite compactable. However, a simple shift in the way the Human breast makes milk and we can have it producing a compactable milk filled with plenty of nice healthy cupraglobins for your children.'
'How.... would you do that.... Surgery?' the counsellor asked, a little unsure.
'Good Lord No,' Robert continued to smile, 'a simple injection done every... lets see...' Robert turned to the computer once more and brought up the formula he was looking for. '...every four days should do the trick. It will take about a week for it to start working properly, but there should be no side effects.'
The counsellor was now beginning to let a smile creep through. 'Thank you,' he said.
'Oh, no need. I am glad to help. Just have Sere report to myself and I will get her started on the course. The name is Lieutenant Robert Harrier by the way.' He reached forward and offered his hand before Lieutenant (jg) Jerricho turned and left the sickbay.
As the Counsellor left Marcus returned back to his other duties, shaking his head with a little smile. It felt good to be helping people, especially in his current role as an intraspecies specialist. It was funny he reflected, a few years earlier his xeno-medicine training was being used for tending to casulties of the Dominion War. Now he was turning it to helping those with new born children. Who knew what would be thrown at him next....
