"The Start of the Day"
Written by Charles Ross
Lieutenant TogHa, Chief Science Officer
TogHa woke with a start. The memory of his dream nestled in his head, just out of
reach. He tried to grasp at it with all his might, but could not reach. Slowly,
he slunked out of bed and dressed himself. Still confused about the dream, TogHa
washed himself and had a quick meal before he went on duty. Perhaps the dream was
important though. This made him want to reach the memory even more. It was
something about the ship. He walked out the door which greeted him with the usual
hiss and TogHa was hit by the blinding light of the corridor.
On a Klingon ship, the lighs are permanently dimmed to save power and TogHa
prefered this to the starfleet lighting. But, eventually, his eyes will adjust
and it will not matter. Still the dream clung on like a leach sucking blood.
In the corrider, TogHa noticed that many of the crew were up and about, and
constantly bumping into him. Eventually, he reached the turbolift and requested
that he be taken to the bridge. The crowded corriders had already made him five
minutes late.
The turbolift doors opened allowing TogHa an unobstructed view of the bridge. In
front of him, Revos stood manning his console, and the captain was in his chair.
Quietly, TogHa slipped over to his console at the side of the bridge beside Tal
who was also there.
It looked like it was going to be another quiet day. To pass the time, TogHa
began running scans of the surrounding area. Nothing there but a class three
comet and a class K nebula. One or two planet roused his interest, but other than
that, it was going to be a quiet day.
