"Sito"

Lieutenant Sito Jaxa
Lieutenant Sito Jaxa moved with a delicate precision.
Each movement
was slow, each one was deliberate, and the sheen of
sweat that covered
her face showed that it was not easy to maintain. The
white gi she wore
was padded but was otherwise unremarkable as it hung
loosely off of her
lithe frame. The door to the room opened with a quiet
swish, but she
ignored it as she kept her movements even and timed.
“Did you hear?” A female voice sounded from behind her
and to the left.
“Depends on what I was supposed to hear Niya.” Jaxa
smirked as she kept
moving. “Carol is supposed to be already shacked up
with someone I
think, and Taylor is trying to get a still working for
something he calls
moonshine, but I was not scheduled for anything
today.”
“Taylor is doing what?” The Betazoid moved into Jaxa’s
field of view
with a quizzical expression. “Isn’t that sorta against
regs?”
“Rules change so much over the years,” Jaxa stopped
her exercise as her
features shifted to a grin. “I have not been a
security officer for
eight years.” She shrugged. “I think it is only
against regs if it is
involving an attempt to intoxicate a Kyralian Razor
Beast on night watch
while gambling.”
She chuckled and walked over to a nearby bench to
retrieve a towel she
had tossed there earlier. She heard an exasperated
tone from Niya.
“So that was the big news?” Jaxa started to wipe her
face with the
towel. “They will get caught sooner or later, then
they will be smacked in
the head and told not to be so stupid next time.
Something will be
placed in their files, and the case will be closed.
Taylor is too good to
get hit with anything beyond that.”
“That wasn’t it,” Niya sounded like she finally
remembered why she was
here and seemed to appear right next to Jaxa. “We have
been diverted.”
“What?” Jaxa brought down the towel a bit.
“I don’t know the specifics but the order went out and
command staff
were called to a meeting.”
“Interesting. For that bit of news, you get a donut.”
Niya shook her head and gave a chuckle, “I wonder why
you weren’t
called.”
“I am hardly indispensable” Jaxa shrugged. “They don’t
need me around
for everything.”
“Lieutenant Sito,” Captain Utex’s voice seemed to fill
the room. “I
need you in my ready room.”
Niya arched an eyebrow with a smile creeping across
her face and simply
said, “You were saying?”
“He probably wants to talk to me about the course
correction I did last
night that almost put us into that asteroid.”
“You what!” Niya blurted in shock.
Jaxa moved to the wall computer and pressed a button,
“I’ll be right
there Captain.”
“Oh my god!”
“I’m joking.” Jaxa chuckled as she started out with
the towel around
her neck..
