Joined Trill Male, age 37

Born on November Eleventh in the year 2342, the first authorized Trill host of the symbiont Utex is the creator of the Hekarran Corridor repair process, which restored the damaged sections of subspace in said area, at a great personal and professional loss to then-Commander Lenti Tosh. The extremely broad view of life evinced by most joined Trill members of Starfleet, while not entirely absent in Captain Utex, is greatly subdued, perhaps due to the fact that this is the symbiont Utex's first joining and first lifetime. The perspective of several lifetimes has yet had time to take its jading effect on the Trill. The perspective, however, of six previous ill-fated hostings has left Utex with a harmlessly unpredicatable and sometimes benignly mishevious streak. Symbiosis in itself has proven to be problematic in his interpersonal and close relationships, it should be noted.

Lenti has two parents and one brother, all still alive by 2379. Although he was much to conservative and orderly a child to follow in his brother's often mischevious footsteps, he was a lover of nature and of the outdoors in general. he was a difficult child to contain. The quiet, shy, introspective young man strived from childhood to qualify for the Trill hosting program, and specifically for the Utex symbiont whom he 'met' during a trip of undisclosed purpose to the birthing pools on the homeworld. However, at the time of his promotion to Commander and Executive Officer of the constellation-class Victory-A, he had never before served on a starship.

In 2368, at age 26, Lenti Tosh was scheduled to be joined to the Trill symbiont Utex. However, that symbiont was stolen before the event could take place. The theft of Utex, among a host of several others was quick, discreet, and left undiscovered until Lenti was sent to join with Utex. To all accounts, the symbiont was on the run, mainly against it's will for nearly a decade. In that time, not only had the symbiont been transferred through several hosts (most joinings too short to take full effect), but has also fathered an undisclosed number of symbionts. Utex ecked out a living, the unprepared joinings stretching its nervous system more and more thinly.

Shortly prior to the Dominion War, Lenti opted to follow a command track, and has found a vocational love there. He was asssigned to several vessels, including the USS Farragut, where he met Commander Data during the transport of the Enterprise-D crew to various relief starbases, planets, and starships. The android had a remarkable effect on Lenti's waning sense of wonder, which had been damaged by his preempted joining. The android caused, in some manner, the man to realize that had had merely been coping with life instead of living it, searching for ways to deal with a life that he did not expect or plan to. This was a common ground for the individuals, and perhaps, later for the joined lifeform.

During the Dominion War, due to the stressed ranks or Starfleet, Lenti found himself rocketing up the command ladder. For his second command position, he served as the First Officer of the USS Victory and was decorated several times over, including upon his resolution of the Warp Six "speed limit" era.

In 2377, Lenti made history as the only Trill initiate to search for, and recover a stolen symbiont slated for joining. Subsequently, the two were allowed a time of healing and a time of quiet to prepare for joining, following which, Lenti returned to his career in Starfleet, failing to report, initially, his joining. The joining was shortly discovered due to countless reports of strange behavior on the Commander's part and subsequent medical scans.
